This is an A minor pentatonic lick I like to use to build stamina in my left hand. There is very little picking involved. In fact the only note that should be picked is the first note, everything else is either a hammer-on or a pull-off.
Harmonically speaking you can obviously use this lick over Am7 or CMaj7 but there are a lot of other harmonic possibilities as well. I like to use it over Dm7, FMaj7, Gm7, BbMaj7#11, Gb7alt, and C7. These are just some of the possibilities I will try and do a more in-depth lesson on the harmonic potential of the "Pentatonic Scale" in a future lesson. Enjoy! Peace.
